Frequently Asked Questions

Don’t see your question? Ask us.

Can dogs really detect mold?
Yes. A dog's nose has up to 300 million scent receptors (humans have about 6 million). A detection dog follows the scent to the source — even behind walls, under floors, or in HVAC, where a visual check or air sample often can't tell you where the mold is.
Is the detection dog safe around kids and pets?
Yes. Copper is a hypoallergenic poodle: clean, low-shedding, and calm on the job. He's a good fit around children, other animals, and people with allergy concerns.
How long does an inspection take?
Most visits take under an hour — usually 20 minutes to an hour, depending on the size of the property. We'll give you a time estimate when we book.
Is canine mold detection a substitute for lab testing?
No. They answer different questions. The dog shows you where mold is growing. A lab test (air or surface) tells you species and spore counts. A lot of people use the dog first, then sample only the spots that matter — cheaper than testing the whole building.
Do you do post-remediation verification?
Yes. After cleanup, we can send the dog through again to check that the source is gone. No drilling into walls you just repaired.
Will the inspection damage my property?
No. No drilling, no cutting drywall, no lifting floors. The dog sweeps the space and alerts on mold locations.
What areas do you serve?
We're based in Hanover, New Hampshire. New Hampshire and Vermont are home turf — Manchester, Concord, Nashua, Portsmouth, Keene, Laconia, Lebanon, Burlington VT, and the towns in between. Outside that, ask. We'll travel and quote it before you commit. See all service areas.
How much does it cost?
It depends on property size, scope, and location. We quote each job — an all-in price, no hidden fees. Travel within our regular NH and VT areas is included. Reach out for a quote.
When are you launching?
Early 2027. Copper is still in training. Join the mailing list on the home page and we'll email you when booking opens.
Can I book an inspection for a real estate transaction?
Yes. A dog search before closing can turn up hidden mold so it isn't a surprise after you move in. Reach out early in your due-diligence window so we can get you on the calendar.
